Bouvé faculty, students make strong showing at APHA 2025

More than 30 faculty, staff, students, and alumni from the Department of Public Health and Health Sciences represented Northeastern University at the American Public Health Association 2025 Annual Meeting & Expo in Washington, D.C., in early November.

The delegation showcased research through roundtable discussions, oral presentations, and poster sessions. Participants included students and recent graduates from the Population Health PhD program, Master of Public Health program, and undergraduate BS in Health Science and BA in Public Health programs.

Among the presentations, undergraduate students Isabelle Belensky and Daniel Groder shared their qualitative analysis on young adult perspectives regarding motivational interviewing and mobile health interventions for limiting alcohol use. Current MPH student Caitlin Laska, recent MPH alumni Calabria DeFazio and Shaina Weilenmann, and Professor Jennifer Evans presented their collaborative research on sexual and reproductive health.

The strong turnout reflects the department’s commitment to advancing public health research and providing students with opportunities to engage with the broader public health community at the nation’s premier public health conference.
