Bouvé College of Health Sciences is pleased to introduce Chrissa Kioussi, PhD, as the new Dean of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. An internationally trained molecular geneticist, Dr. Kioussi brings a distinguished record of scientific leadership and research excellence to the role.
Dr. Kioussi’s research focuses on how genes and cells work together to drive organ formation and regeneration, work that has placed her among the leading voices in her field. Before joining Northeastern, she served as Professor and Chair of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Oregon State University, where she led significant growth in research productivity, graduate education, and program innovation.
Her academic journey spans some of the world’s foremost research institutions. Dr. Kioussi earned her PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology through the Hellenic Pasteur Institute and her BS in Biology from the University of Athens. She went on to complete advanced research training, mentored by two Nobel Prize laureates, at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, University College London, the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, The Scripps Research Institute, and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at UC San Diego. She is also a Leadership Fellow of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, reflecting a career long commitment to advancing pharmacy education alongside scientific discovery.
As Dean, Dr. Kioussi is committed to advancing the School through excellence in education, transformative research and discovery, clinical and community engagement, and partnerships across disciplines and industry. Her vision is to build on the School’s existing strengths while fostering an inclusive, intellectually vibrant community, one that prepares the next generation of pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists, researchers, and leaders to meet the evolving challenges of human health.
