Functional Outcomes in Concussion and User-Centered Support (FOCUS) Clinic

Overview

The FOCUS Clinic provides specialized assessment, rehabilitation, and support services for individuals experiencing cognitive-communication difficulties following concussion or mild traumatic brain injury. Through evidence-based, person-centered care, graduate student clinicians support improvements in attention, memory, executive functioning, communication, and participation in everyday activities. The clinic emphasizes functional recovery and supports individuals in successfully returning to school, work, sports, and community engagement.

Program Schedule and Details

FOCUS Clinic offers comprehensive cognitive-communication evaluations, individualized therapy, and functional support tailored to each participant’s needs and goals. Services may include return-to-learn and return-to-work support, strategy development, patient and family education, and collaboration with schools, employers, healthcare providers, and community partners. Sessions are designed to promote practical skill development and support successful reintegration into daily activities.

Participants can expect to develop strategies that support improved cognitive-communication functioning, increased independence, and greater confidence in daily life activities. Through individualized, functional support, individuals gain tools to manage attention, memory, organization, communication, and executive functioning demands across school, work, home, and social settings.
