The health equity minor prepares students to work effectively in diverse healthcare and public health settings. The minor offers the opportunity to develop strong leadership and advocacy skills in tandem with a commitment to social justice principles.

This minor is open to all undergraduate students across the Northeastern network.

Program of Study

This interdisciplinary minor consists of three core courses along with one elective course. It is designed to cultivate analytical skills used to evaluate health inequities and to equip students with the capacity to propose evidence-based solutions to reduce health inequities. Coursework within the minor seeks to promote awareness, empathy, and community-centered approaches to healthcare and public health.

Learning Outcomes

Learning outcomes include:

  1. Prepares students to work effectively in diverse healthcare & public health settings across multiple disciplines
  2. Supports development of strong leadership and advocacy skills with a commitment to social justice principles
  3. Cultivates analytical skills to evaluate health inequities and propose evidence-based solutions

Admissions Requirements

To be admitted to the Minor in Health Equity, students must be in good academic standing (minimum 2.0 GPA overall).

To declare the minor, please:

  1. Complete the minor declaration form (below)
  2. Set up a meeting with Sarah Young-Hong, Program Director, for approval and processing.
