Doctor of Medical Science in Healthcare Leadership (DMSc)

YOU ARE BOUVÉ

Northeastern’s DMSc program is designed for working healthcare professionals of all types.

Unlike other DMSc programs that are tailored almost exclusively to physician assistants, this degree is available to any individual in a healthcare field who shares an interest in healthcare leadership and administration, and wishes to expand their knowledge and skills to advance their career.

The DMSc program is intended for working healthcare professionals in various time zones, with students from across the globe. It is fully online* and asynchronous, meaning students can view and complete coursework on their schedule while meeting weekly assignment deadlines.

  • It is the first DMSc degree offered by an R1 research institution.
  • Allows healthcare professionals to advance their education and expand their career opportunities in the areas of healthcare leadership, healthcare education, and community engagement and advocacy, with a focus on specific career goals.
  • Facilitates entry of healthcare-experienced individuals into the fields of healthcare administration and leadership traditionally occupied by physicians and administrative executives

The program comprises a series of core courses centered on developing proficiency in healthcare systems and leadership. Once students have completed the core courses, they progress into one of seven concentrations, each designed to hone knowledge and skills specific to individual interests and career goals.

Students complete courses in research methods and thesis writing to prepare for a final problem-based thesis project that addresses a healthcare issue through the lens of the concentration.

(*The Health Informatics Research concentration is the only in-person track at Northeastern’s Boston campus.)
