Overview
Lora Owens joined BCORe in August 2026, as a Senior Grants Administrator specializing in Pre-Award grant proposals. Lora has over 10 years progressive experience supporting the full life-cycle of sponsored research administration and will be responsible for both pre- and post-award functions in BCORe in her hybrid role.
In her previous position as a Sr. Grants and Contracts Admin at University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) Office of Research and Innovation, she managed both pre- and post-award administration for faculty in the School of Science and Engineering.
Lora enjoys partnering with Principal Investigators to develop competitive proposals, prepare detailed budgets, navigate sponsor requirements, and manage complex submission processes. She is excited to learn about the innovative research across the Bouvé College of Health Sciences and to support investigators throughout their grant pursuits.
Lora holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from UMKC (summa cum laude) and is a Certified Research Administrator (CRA). In her free time, she enjoys reading, kayaking, hiking, volunteering, and spending time with friends and family.
