Overview

Jessica Maxwell is a Clinical Professor and the Program Director of the DPT Program in the Department of Physical Therapy, Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences at Northeastern University. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Boston University, a transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions, and a PhD in Epidemiology from the Boston University School of Public Health. 

Dr. Maxwell’s research interests have been centered around the epidemiology of knee osteoarthritis and joint replacement outcomes, health promotion and wellness content in DPT curricula, and inclusive practices in DPT Clinical Education. 

Dr. Maxwell teaches in a variety of areas including evidence-based practice, foundational aspects of Physical Therapy and Therapeutic Exercise, and Clinical Education. 

Clinically, Dr. Maxwell specializes in orthopedic manual physical therapy, having completed a fellowship in manual therapy from The Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy. 

Dr. Maxwell is an active member of the APTA’s Academy of Education and has held leadership positions in the APTA Geriatrics’ Health Promotion and Wellness Special Interest Group. She is a graduate of the APTA’s Fellowship in Higher Education Leadership and has earned a certificate in Leading Virtual Teams.
