Overview

With over two decades of experience in pediatric and critical care nursing, Lena has built a career dedicated to patient advocacy, education, and clinical excellence. As a Visiting Assistant Clinical Professor in the ABSN Program at Northeastern University’s Charlotte Campus, she leads courses in Foundations of Professional Practice and Advanced Health Assessment while providing online instruction in Pathopharmacology, Health Assessment, and Pediatric Clinicals. She plays a key role in simulation-based learning and serves as a content expert in Pediatrics and Health Assessment across the lifespan.

Her academic contributions extend beyond the classroom, where she actively supports NCLEX success, manages Senior Touchpoint students, and serves as a Clinical Instructor Liaison. Prior to her current role, she served as Adjunct Clinical Faculty, guiding ABSN students through acute care pediatric, PICU, emergency, and adult health clinical rotations.

In addition to her work in academia, she maintains active clinical practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner in urgent care settings, managing acute illnesses, performing preventive care, and providing occupational health services. Her background also includes serving as a Pediatric Intensive Care Liaison Nurse and Clinical Coordinator at Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital, where she led process improvement initiatives, implemented infection control strategies, and mentored nursing staff in pediatric oncology and biotherapy.

A committed leader and educator, she holds certifications in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), APHON Pediatric Hematology Oncology Biotherapy, and Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN). Her expertise in EPIC, Pyxis, and various learning management systems supports her efforts to foster the next generation of nurses.
