Dr. Hoffman is a school psychologist, whose research lies at the intersection of school psychology and public health. She applies her expertise in child development, school settings, collaboration with school professionals and parents, theories of health behavior, and program planning and evaluation to design, implement, and test interventions that promote healthy eating and physical activity among children in preschool through high school. She has a particular interest in the use of technology to disseminate evidence based practices. She has authored over 75 peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters. Her work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the Healthy Weight Research Network. Dr. Hoffman received the Lightner Witmer Award from the American Psychological Association (Division 16) for exceptional early career scholarship.
Dr. Hoffman is a member of the Society for the Study of School Psychology where she is serving a 3-year term on their Executive Board (President Elect 2021, President 2022, Past-President 2023). She served as the program director of the School Psychology PhD and MS/CAGS programs at Northeastern University between 2011-2018. She currently sits on the editorial boards of several journals in the field, and she serves as a member of the local School Wellness Advisory Committee in the town where she lives.

Dr. Hoffman and her team are currently adapting WE PLAY to better meet the needs of children with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities with funding from the Health Weight Research Network.
