Speech and Language Programs
Effective communication is essential to success in academics, business, healthcare, research, customer service, and an invaluable life skill.
ACT involves direct instruction and models for articulation (the way sounds are produced) and prosody (the melody of speech) in Mainstream American English (MAE).
We provide opportunities to practice learned skills in a variety of communication settings and situations (e.g., presentations, interviews, ordering food), as well as giving direct feedback on performance from the instructors.

I joined the ACT program in order to improve my pronunciation. My instructor, Jordan Piel, helped me identify specific areas of improvement, suggested a variety of vocal exercises, and helped me set weekly goals. Jordan was friendly, easy-going, and supportive throughout the program, which reduced the anxiety of working with a speech coach. By the end of the program, I had made significant progress with my pronunciation and had become a much more confident communicator.”
