The Hope Strengthens Foundation, based in Marblehead, Massachusetts, is a 501c3 public charity that provides targeted financial support to individuals and families facing a life-threatening illness, disability, or recovery from traumatic injury. They also provide nursing scholarships and have given to Bouvé several times before.

The Foundation previously awarded the School of Nursing $5,000 in the fall of 2021, and then again in 2022.

On April 1, 2024, the Foundation met with School of Nursing Dean Amanda Choflet where she was presented with the $10,000 gift.

The Foundation shared this background information with Bouvé: The Foundation was founded by long-time friends and Northeastern alums, James Fahey and Jacob Ferreira in 2010. Its roots were established when a mutual friend, Joe, valiantly battled against and beat cancer. Joe’s drive toward remission was centered in two simple words: Hope Strengthens. That motto drove Joe and inspired his family and friends to come together as a community. To support him, many members of his community organized a fundraiser to ensure that Joe could focus all his energy on his recovery and rest easy knowing his expenses would be covered while out of work. It was this effort that energized Jim and Jake to create a foundation that could support others just like Joe.

Today, the Hope Strengthens Foundation exists because of Joe’s strength and the unyielding support that can be found in communities all across our country.
