The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Bouvé College’s School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences brought together students, faculty, and pharmaceutical industry leaders for its annual Research Symposium on November 20, 2025, showcasing cutting-edge research and fostering vital connections within the Boston-area research community.
The day-long event featured presentations spanning critical areas of pharmaceutical science, including immunotherapy, immunogenicity in organ transplantation, advanced drug delivery systems, computational and systems pharmacology, drug discovery for neglected tropical diseases, and neuropharmacology. Students presented research conducted within the department and external speakers from industry and academic laboratories throughout the Boston region also gave stimulating seminars.
A highlight of the symposium was the keynote address by Dr. Alessandrini from Massachusetts General Hospital, who discussed groundbreaking work in immunogenicity in transplantation research. The program also included a panel discussion featuring speakers from Sanofi, Eli Lilly, and DeepCure, providing students with direct insights into pharmaceutical industry perspectives and career pathways.
Students participated actively throughout the event, presenting posters and competing for prizes while networking with peers, faculty members, and industry professionals. The interactive format allowed trainees to gain exposure to both academic and industry research environments.
“Thanks to the excellent external speakers from our neighboring industry and medical institutions, our showcase this year featured a strong mix of both external and internal presentations,” said Dr. Hideaki Yano, Chair of the Research Showcase Committee. “Importantly, our students at all levels benefited the most from the event through their active participation. We, as faculty, are proud of their research efforts, and our external guests offered compliments as well. I should also mention that the faculty gained significantly from the collaborations that emerged from the event, particularly with external research groups.”
The Research Symposium continues the department’s longstanding tradition of creating opportunities for knowledge exchange and collaboration within the pharmaceutical sciences community.
