Exercise physiology, skeletal muscle function and nutritional intervention
My research is focused on examining the effect of exercise/physical activity and nutrition as an intervention on chronic diseases for improving skeletal muscle function and cardiopulmonary capacity. My research also investigates training and nutritional strategies on fitness improvement and performance enhancement for general and athletic populations. I have broad research experiences in clinical studies where I developed effective measurements and protocols to assess the efficacy of acute and chronic exercise and nutrition intervention. I have explored different parameters including both systemic and cellular biomarkers associated with muscle protein synthesis to examine their responses to different exercise protocols, therefore, to evaluate the impact of exercise and training on fitness. I have worked with different clinical populations, from older adults with chronic conditions such as diabetes, obesity, and arthritis, etc. to younger population and athletes to provide effective communication and consultation.
