Research and Teaching Interests
Innovation; technology adaptation and change; external influences on innovation, healthcare, and startups
Wubneh’s research interests lie broadly in two domains. The first line of work examines the role external influences (e.g. regulators, financial analysts, or third party evaluators) on firm adaptability to changes in technology, and the impact on innovation trajectories. In the second line of work, looking at firms shift and pace among innovation modes that must be pursued for longer term organizational performance. His teaching interests and expertise focuses on entrepreneurship, innovation, and technology strategy, particularly in contexts where institutions are salient. He also has expertise and an emphasis on healthcare settings such as pharmaceuticals and the economics of healthcare.
Industry and Academic Experience
Prior to his Ph.D., Wubneh worked as a management consultant for Deloitte Consulting in New York City. As a consultant, Wubneh’s expertise included industries such as healthcare, consumer products, aerospace, and heavy industrials. He also worked for New York Presbyterian Hospital as a data analytics specialist serving multiple hospitals and health service domains. Some sample projects include healthcare resource optimization, developing analytics models for new regulatory requirements for the hospital, as well as prediction models for patient readmissions, both for chronic and emergent conditions.
Service to the Profession
Wubneh serves as a reviewer for Organization Science. Wubneh is an engaged member of the Academy of Management, and the Strategic Management Society. He also is an active participant in the Management Faculty of Color, the Ph.D. Project, and the Tenure Project.
