Students Make an Impact on Capitol Hill and State House

Northeastern University and the School of Pharmacy were well-represented on Capitol Hill for Rx Impact Day, the National Association of Chain Drug Stores’ (NACDS) event that educates members of Congress about the importance of “pro-patient, pro-pharmacy policy and key issues related to healthcare reform”. Rebecca Antonelli, P1 PharmD student attended and commented on her experience. “NACDS RxImpact Day on Capitol Hill, preceded by a briefing of bills concerning pharmacists at RxImpact Academy, was an inspirational experience that instilled in me a love for advocacy. Not only was I able to meet pharmacists and student pharmacists from all over the country coming together in Washington, D.C., for the sole purpose of trying to progress our profession, I had the opportunity to speak to members of Congress and their aides personally”  she stated.

On the local level, students and faculty members also participated in the Face of Pharmacy, a meeting at the State House in Boston to advance House Bill 2041, and act recognizing pharmacists as health care providers.
