  • Each year, the U.S News and World Report ranks schools, states, hospitals, jobs and more – aiming to guide readers in making informed decisions about their future.

The latest graduate school rankings reflect improvements and recognition across multiple programs at the Bouvé College of Health Sciences, showcasing the college’s dedication to preparing its students to be the next leaders in health care.

Ranking Highlights

These rankings reflect the hard work and dedication of the faculty, staff and students that continue to push boundaries in healthcare innovation and education.

Program Spotlights

One of the standout programs in this year’s rankings is the Physician Assistant (PA) program, which has climbed to #14 nationally. Known for its strong clinical training and partnership with top healthcare institutions, ensuring students gain hands-on experiences in the fields they care to pursue.

“Shadowing or consulting with professionals is a key aspect of these programs,” Ilira Grilli, Director of Graduate Enrollment Management at Bouvé College of Health Sciences. “It helps students understand the field and strengthen their applications post-graduation.”

With continued investment in clinical experience opportunities, the PA program is expected to maintain its upward trajectory in national ranking.

Similarly, the Nurse Anesthesia program, which moved up three spots to #15, prepares students with critical problem-solving skills and immersive clinical training.

This last year students and faculty members from the Nurse Anesthesia program, traveled to Kigali, Rwanda to volunteer with International Organization for Women and Development.

Providing care to people with limited resources, allowed the team to elevate their understanding of global health disparities and possible solutions in combating them. As the demand for skilled nurse anesthesia grows, students require more immersive training.

Another program making strides is Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), now ranked #28. These professionals are among the most in-demand healthcare workers this year, with an estimated annual salary of $89,290.

This growing demand presents excellent career and advancement opportunities for students exploring this field. The research driven program expects a steady increase in national ranking beyond.

Additionally, the Physical Therapy (PT), which also climbed to #28, remains a field with expanding career paths. This high-demand profession allows health care leaders to enter different fields and be a part of a growing industry.

“I think a lot of people don’t realize physical therapists are in certain environments,” says Dr. Christopher Cesario, Associate Clinical Professor and Director of Student Affairs for the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. “I’m hearing more and more people in the past few years diving into a niche in physical therapy that wasn’t there a decade ago.”

The PT program at Northeastern emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, giving students opportunities to work alongside professionals in related healthcare fields and puts mentorship at the forefront of success.

The Methodology for Ranking

The U.S News and World Report, the global leader in media today, helps consumers, citizens, business leaders and policy officials to make informed decisions about their lives and the communities around them.

Yearly, the team collaborates with experts in professional school programs to develop a ranking system of top schools in the US, to help prospective students in their college research.

Their methodology? They use a mix of expert opinion and statistical data, which evaluates factors like faculty quality, student outcome and research impact.

Using surveys, they then are able to assess the academic and professional environment of the school. Their rankings are supported by the assessment of standardized scores, weighted key factors in comparison to their peers.

Thus, the Bouvé College of Health Sciences takes these rankings a motivation to continue its efforts in solidifying its reputation as a leader in healthcare education, clinical training, and research.
