Northeastern Professor of Physical Therapy Inducted as NAP Distinguished Fellow in Physical Therapy Academy

The National Academies of Practice (NAP) is a prestigious network of healthcare professionals dedicated to advancing health and well-being through collaboration and innovation.

Each year, a new class of inductees is welcomed into the academies through a rigorous nomination and application process.

This year, Dr. Heidi Cheerman, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, Movement, and Rehabilitation Sciences, has been accepted as a Distinguished Fellow of the Physical Therapy Academy.

She will officially join the Academy as part of the Class of 2025.

Dr. Cheerman’s induction will be celebrated at the 2025 NAP Annual Meeting and Forum in Washington, DC. During the event’s Banquet and Awards Ceremony, she will receive a distinctive NAP medallion to commemorate this significant achievement.

This recognition provides an invaluable opportunity for professionals like Dr. Cheerman to engage with a diverse network of healthcare experts.

Together, they will work on initiatives promoting interprofessional education, leadership development, and health equity—critical areas for advancing the future of healthcare.

“I am excited for the opportunity to have a national presence and contribute to the impact of IPE/IPC on a global scale with multidisciplinary health professions across the world,” she says.

Help us congratulate this incredible Dr. Cheerman for this incredible honor!
