It has been a busy start to the Fall semester for the NU SOPPS Alumni Council. In just a few short months, we have kicked off our NU Alumni Speaker Series to educate both prospective and current students on career pathways within the pharmacy profession.
This past October, we hosted our first event Expanding the Future of Pharmacy: Compounding Expertise and Community Care Leadership. We were pleased to be joined by Holly Knight, PharmD, RPh, Director of Pharmacy at Upham’s Community Care (Class of 2008) and George Gomatos, RPh, Director of Pharmacy at Central Admixture Pharmacy Services, Inc. (CAPS), (CLASS OF) to share insights into their career journeys in both community and compounding pharmacy, respectively.
Our next event in the series, Exploring Pharmacy Careers: Residency and Fellowship Insights, was held this past November. Juliette Muszka, PharmD, RPh, Vice President of Student Leadership Development for the Industry Pharmacists Organization (IPhO) (Class of 1999) and Madison Oppenheim, PharmD, BCPS, (Class of 2024), Antimicrobial Stewardship Program Lead at MarinHealth Medical Center shared their career journeys in industry and clinical practice; while providing valuable insights to students on how to prepare and navigate the post-graduate residency and industry fellowship interview process.
Lastly, we are gearing up for our annual NU SOPPS Alumni Council Spring Membership Drive. If you are interested in helping support our mission in providing the alumni perspective to assist NU SOPPS in preparing and educating the next generation of pharmacy leaders, please fill out our membership interest form.
