Faculty scholar Chiehl Li published a special issue on promoting social justice, titled Advancing social justice for English learners: Implications for school psychology training. This work addressed inequity of education of children who do not speak English fluently and how lack of multicultural training of educators and school psychologists contribute to the problems. The work was a joint effort by faculty and students of different racial and religious backgrounds. Chieh and her team presented at the National Conference of Trainers of School Psychologists.
Dr. Li also published a review of cultural appropriateness and adaptation of mental health promotion programs (social-emotional learning programs) developed in the U.S. for the schools in a different country, Pakistan. The review is titled Can social-emotional learning programs be adapted to schools in Pakistan?, published in the International Journal of Educational and School Psychology.
Faculty Scholar Bilge Erten has published a paper in American Economic Journal: Applied Economics titled Mental Health Costs of Lockdowns: Evidence from Age-specific Curfews in Turkey. Her research showed evidence that lockdown-induced decline in mobility worsened mental health.
