About
Dr. Shan Mohammed is the founding director of the Master of Public Health Program in Urban Health and from 2007-2017 oversaw the program in areas of educational policy development, curricular design, public health workforce development and recruitment/outreach to public health professionals. He currently serves as the Chair of the Education Advisory Committee with the Association of Schools and Programs in Public Health and oversees 4 national working groups on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. In addition, he is a lead site-visitor with the Council on Accreditation for Public Health. He completed a three-year Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Fellowship “Developing Leadership in Reducing Substance Abuse” and currently serves as Faculty-in-Residence, living on campus in a residence hall with 1,100 undergraduate students where he designs and implements programming to assist undergraduate students achieve academic success and cultivate their personal and professional development. Dr. Mohammed is a board-certified family medicine physician and a fellow of the American Association of Family Physicians.
Project Description
Tier 1 Project: Advancing Racial and Health Equity through the Arts: A Community-engaged Research Study in the City of Boston. This research project entails partnering with artists and arts organizations to explore how creative practices may foster and promote community empowerment, equitable governance, and improved public health outcomes.
