Sonya Larrieux, PhD, PT, MA is an associate clinical professor and director of the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Graduate Affairs at Northeastern University. Dr. Larrieux, attained her baccalaureate degree in Physical Therapy and Psychology from Hunter College; master’s degree in Applied Physiology from Columbia University and doctoral degree in law & public policy from Northeastern University.  She teaches in courses addressing the foundations of Physical Therapy, human development, freshman seminars and capstone professional seminars of the DPT curriculum.  Her clinical practice has spanned across various areas of Physical Therapy, but pediatric rehabilitation, specifically the developmentally and neurologically impaired child has been the focus of most of her clinical practice. Dr. Larrieux’s research area of interest is in health and health care disparities, with particular focus on the delivery of culturally competent health care and workforce development. She has presented regionally and nationally in the area of culturally competent health care.
