John Auerbach’s area of expertise is public health policy and practice. He served as the Commissioner of Public Health in Massachusetts from 2007 to 2012, as the Executive Director of the Boston Public Health Commission from 1998 to 2007 and as the state’s leading AIDS governmental official during the early years of the epidemic. He has worked at local, state and national levels to develop policies and programs to address racial and ethnic disparities, to promote wellness, to combat infectious and chronic disease and to support the successful implementation of health care reform. Auerbach was the President of the Association of State and Territories Health Officials (ASTHO) and a Board member of the National Association of County and City Health Officials.
