Trained as an engineer, our research examines how design impacts health. Our work is grounded in modern day ergonomic and occupational biomechanics. Over the past 20 years, this background expanded to include public health. Much of our research aims to prevent work-related injuries and musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). In general, we examine how design of tools as well as organizational policies, programs and practices impact worker safety, health, and wellbeing. Our work has impacted the design of computer technology as well as produced new guidelines for organizations to implement change to improve worker health.
