• Bouve Child Health Labs

    We are a group of laboratories at Northeastern University with diverse interests related to child health and development, from studying how children with cerebral palsy learn new skills in virtual environments to understanding how infant sucking patterns can predict future motor skills. We work with children and youth aged 0 to 18 years. We would love to have your child participate in one of our studies!

Rehabilitation Games and Virtual Reality Lab

We explore how virtual reality-based therapy can improve motor learning, balance, functional mobility and participation in children and adults with neuromotor impairments.

Center for Cognitive & Brain Health

We investigate the effects of lifestyle choices and health behaviors (e.g., physical activity, diet) and their physiological sequelae (e.g., fitness, adiposity) on brain and cognition.
 
 
 

SMILE

We use a combination of behavioral approaches, analysis of speech recordings, and 3D face tracking technology to understand how children’s speech development is affected by motor speech disorders and to develop tools and techniques to better assess and treat these disorders.

Speech and Neurodevelopment Lab

We examine the link between early sucking, feeding and infant vocalizations through an array of objective, customized sensors and technologies.
 

Communication Analysis and Design Lab

We focus on understanding the underlying mechanisms of motor speech disorders, the role of prosody in speech clarity, and the impact of atypical speech on social interactions and participation by children and young adults.

We focus on the intersection of health behavior and digital technology and explores the psychological and behavioral effects of interactive media for health promotion.

We leverage emerging technologies in computational, cognitive, affective, and behavioral sciences to better evaluate, understand, and support human development.
