Nasim Ferdows is a health economist and a gerontologist. She received a Ph.D. in economics and gerontology training from Wayne State University. After finishing her Ph.D., she completed a T32 postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Gerontology and Healthcare Research at Brown University and then spent over a year at the University of Southern California as a postdoctoral research associate at the Roybal Institute on Aging. Dr. Ferdows is also a participating RCMAR scientist through the pilot grant she received from the Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics at the University of Southern California in 2019. Prior to joining the faculty of Northeastern University, she was an Assistant Professor at the College of Public Health at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
Dr. Ferdows’s research resides at the intersection of economics, gerontology, and health services research—the intersection of methodology and policy. Her current research is focused on studying disparities in access to care and health outcomes and aging as a life-course process, examining the life-course determinants of health at an older age. Dr. Ferdows is interested in collaborating on interdisciplinary research projects in health policy. She is also passionate about teaching statistics and economics and their applications to undergraduate and graduate students.
