Lindsay Hawthorne joined our team as the Administrative Secretary for the School Health Academy in May 2017. Lindsay has a B.A. in International Relations with a minor in Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies from Boston University (BU), where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. Lindsay advocates for awareness of sexual assault and domestic violence. She was an intern with the Massachusetts Governor’s Council to Address Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence in 2016. She helped prepare the legislative agenda of the council. She also found and recommended a bill to prevent educator sexual misconduct to the council’s agenda, which requires applicants for positions involving children to disclose any former allegations of sexual misconduct that they were found guilty of.
Lindsay has also interned with the Huntington Theatre Company, and with Oak Foundation, a non-profit in Geneva, Switzerland. In 2015, Lindsay also served as a United Nations Association-USA Youth Delegate, attending the 59th Commission on the Status of Women at the UN in New York. She attended around 20 side-events (led by non-governmental organizations and representatives of governments of different countries), covering the events on social media, through two blog posts and through an in depth article published in the BU IR Review, BU’s international relations magazine. Through these experiences and several administrative assistance positions, Lindsay has gained communications, marketing and technological skills including layout design, social media marketing, article writing, file organizing and time management.
