Overview

Anna Swan attended Simmons College and became a registered nurse in 1992.  After graduation, she worked at Brigham and Women’s Hospital for three years and then did travel nursing (transferring over time to pediatric medicine). She has worked in Baltimore, Boston, Colorado, Oregon, San Francisco and Kathmandu, Nepal. In Nepal, she taught nurses better nursing skills and helped open a well-baby day at a clinic.

In 2004 Anna graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a family nurse practitioner degree. Initially staying in Colorado, she worked in pediatric gastroenterology and then moved back to the East Coast and worked a short travel assignment stint at Boston Children’s Hospital. From there she moved to the Seacoast area of New Hampshire and Maine where she helped open a pre-operative services clinic in a hospital setting.

Not wanting to lose her family practice skills, Anna worked for six years in a general family practice and then transferred to an integrative family practice for nearly ten years. Anna has always been interested in the combination of western and eastern medicine. She also precepted many NP students during her 16 years in family practice.

In September 2021, Anna started teaching at Northeastern University. She continues to teach, mentor, and advise while working (as needed) for a school doing telehealth visits.
