Reimagining Health Care

Exponential advances in science and technology have led to profound opportunities in health care — new treatments, new care delivery models, expanded access to services, support and tools that profoundly improve and save lives and deliver care to a growing population.

Northeastern University has paired faculty practitioners with industry experts to create a unique training designed to fit within a busy clinician’s or health care professional’s schedule, with short online modules allowing a participant to learn at his or her own pace.

Certificate Overview

The Professional Certificate in Telehealth offered by Northeastern University’s Bouvé College is an 9-module online program designed for clinicians of all practices and healthcare administrators who understand the importance and timeliness of a virtual care model. The program consists of the following topics

The Psychology of Virtual Communications

This module considers how to enhance the skills of clinicians using technology to communicate with each other when they are not physically face-to-face.

Social and Immersive Media in Healthcare

We explore the use of social media applications as adjuncts in care delivery through enhanced understanding of social networking.

Interprofessional and Virtual Team Management

How do we develop a better understanding and use of teamwork in care pathways by promoting coordination, collaboration, communication and decision making to achieve optimal healthcare outcomes?

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

In this module, we look at the use of technology platforms for performing or enhancing tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages.

Health Informatics

Explores the interdisciplinary study of the design, development, adoption, and application of IT-based innovations in healthcare services delivery, management, and planning.

Remote Care Delivery and Operational Requirements

This module reviews best practices related to the use of virtual care technologies and operational cost-benefit tools for determining approaches by health care organizations.

Legal, Regulatory, Privacy and Security Requirements in Telehealth and Telecare

This module explores the major regulatory, cybersecurity and financial considerations related to telehealth/telecare services offerings by health care organizations.

Immersive Media and Technology Trends and Innovation

This module is an overview of the major technology trends, i.e., augmented, immersive and other technologies, and the implications for health care organizations in designing, developing and delivering telehealth and telecare services.
